Primary Source Exercise

A primary source is a first-hand, original account, record, or evidence about a person, place, object, or an event. Oral histories, objects, photographs, and documents such as newspapers, ledgers, census records, diaries, journals, and inventories, are primary sources.

We have selected some primary sources that you might find in the University Archives if you were trying to find first-hand accounts relating to the following topics: Chicanos at CSU-Pueblo, Penitentes of the Southwest, and Discrimination at the Coors Brewing Co.

Please read and examine each item and answer the questions below each to the best of your ability. After submitting your answers, you may check the Answer Key.

  • Chicanos at CSU-Pueblo
  • The Penitentes
  • The Coors Boycott
